00: We've made it

It all begins here

My first blog post from the front lines

If you’re reading this… what’s up

We’ve made it

I can finally brag to my in laws that I’m an author

“Yeah I have a newsletter called the trench letter”

The name probably sucks. TBH it sounds like the name of a manifesto written by someone with a trench coat… but stick with me

Let’s set some expectations.. if you’re looking for some boring “news” type newsletter like a lot of people I see on LinkedIn - stop reading

Here’s what you’ll get moving forward

  • actionable tips from those on the front lines

  • Stuff that’s working for me

  • Mindset + unfiltered opinion (hopefully I don’t get fired)

  • Whatever I feel like

If I feel like writing about a book I’m reading? I’ll write about it

If it’s a story about how my kid pooped on the floor and stuck his finger with poo on it into my mouth? I’ll tell you about it

If it’s a podcast / stand up comedy recommendation? I’ll throw you a rec (TBH watching stand up comedy taught me more about prospecting than any book I’ve read)

You’re probably saying “why would you want to write about any of that?”

Because it’s my newsletter and I’m not about to have a boring newsletter that I wouldn’t read if I was on your end.

If you think I’m holding back, tell me

If you want my unfiltered opinion, tell me

If your grand mothers house is being robbed, don’t tell me and call the police

My goal moving forward is a post a week (most likely Tuesday or Wednesday)

BOOOM, see what just did there? Hit you with a meme I made on the spot… and you weren’t even expecting it

Before you go, here’s a few things I wish I did earlier in life (I’m 24)

  • drop out of college, I’m an SDR, my finance degree is worthless

  • Have kids: jump started my engine

  • Talk to homeless people: learned a lot from talking to the ones who weren’t nodding off

  • Ask people about their biggest mistakes: really weird if you parents say it’s you

  • Watch stand up comedy: we’re talking 1 hour sets long form. Most people in my generation are addicting to fast dopamine hits from short form content. Leaves you feeling like rubbish at the end of the day. Watching long form “art” like stand up, Movie, speech, music without distractions os wildly fulfilling

  • Think about death: if my ancestors thought I’d be sitting at my desk calling people to take time to sit on a meeting then write this newsletter, they’d probably be disappointed in me

That’s it for the first letter, hope it didn’t suck as much as I think it does reading it back

Also none of this is planned and wrote it in one 6 min ish sesh -  had a blast writing it

Ps - would you want an about me post? Or maybe something about my past numbers to build credibility?

Feel free to respond to any of these - I’ll read em all
